v2.6.7Major Release
2026-09-04

Two Modes, One Site

Introduced a complete dual-mode architecture built around the idea of 0 β†’ 1. 0 is the origin: dark, empty, baseline. 1 is the first departure from it: light, movement, a new beginning. Alongside the redesign came a persistent progression system, hidden interactions, console commands, and a site-wide collection of easter eggs.

  • Added Zero Mode β€” the original dark / void-inspired theme.
  • Added One Mode β€” a full white theme built around β€œ1 means begin again.”
  • Added cinematic 0 β†’ 1 and 1 β†’ 0 transitions across the entire site.
  • Added persistent mode state through localStorage.
  • Added large environmental typography including ONE, BEGIN, START FROM ZERO, and other hidden references.
  • Added an invisible six-step progression system: [0] found nothing, [1] found something, [2] broke a baseline, [3] annoyed a pingu, [4] read the source, [5] reached the end.
  • Added a hidden 6/6 completion moment for anyone curious enough to find everything.
  • Expanded the Command Palette with secret queries: 0 β†’ 0 results. perfect., 1 β†’ one result: a new beginning., baseline β†’ did you mean: break it?, nothing β†’ you found it.
  • Added keyboard interactions: 0 β†’ giant zero overlay + Zero Mode, 1 β†’ white flash + One Mode, F β†’ forking reality... permission denied.
  • Made the logo unnecessarily interactive: 2s hover β†’ yes. still., 7 clicks β†’ ego: NaN, 10 clicks β†’ click_count = 10 / productivity = 0, double click β†’ ilovebaselines β†’ no.
  • Added project-page whispers including: some survived., things I broke first., baseline detected., baseline broken.
  • Added draggable-pingu project reviews: code review initiated. 🐧
  • Added Open Source / Licenses easter eggs: closed source detected: 0, good., fork me. I dare you., as it should be., beautiful., lawyers were here.
  • Added a five-click MIT license interaction because apparently that was necessary.
  • Added hidden Blog search responses and fake results for: nothing, 1, penguin.
  • Added a slow-scroll hidden post: you weren't supposed to find this.
  • Added an interactive version-history descent back to: v0.0 initial commit. added nothing. broke nothing. started anyway.
  • Added the permanent end-of-timeline release: v∞ still unfinished.
  • Exposed a tiny DevTools API: window.ihatebaselines.zero(), window.ihatebaselines.one(), window.ihatebaselines.pingu().
  • Added footer idle messages: 3s β†’ ...still here?, 6s β†’ seriously?, 9s β†’ fine. +1 curiosity.
  • Added 0 rights reserved. β†’ 1 chance reserved. hover interaction.
  • Added a minimalist loading screen built around the site name and a fading 0.
  • Removed all explicit scroll down labels and arrows.
Zero is where you are. One is proof you moved.

still unfinished.

There will always be another version. There will always be another thing to learn. There will always be another baseline.

  • curiosity β†’ ∞
  • finished = false
a baseline is just a suggestion to go further. I hate baselines πŸ’”
